Janet Estridge

Janet was born March 17, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Richard Wallace Hawks and Jean Lewis Hawks. She married David Morris Estridge of Enid, MS, on September 4, 1970, and the two were married for 54 years. Janet and David spent most of their lives in Olive Branch, MS, where they raised their three sons. More recently, they relocated their home to Brandon to be closer to their children and 10 grandchildren.

Janet, affectionately known as Gran, loved her grandchildren. When she wasn’t attending one of their many baseball, football, soccer, volleyball games or dance recitals, she enjoyed baking, gardening, and sewing.

Janet is survived by her husband, David, of Brandon; sons Jason (Melanie) of Madison, MS, Jeffrey (Laurie) of Brandon, MS and Joseph (Carra) also of Brandon, MS; her beloved grandchildren William, Mary Peyton, Cole, and Reid of Madison, Tyler and Anna Allen of Brandon, MS, Evan, Emory, Grayden, and Chandler of Brandon, MS. She also leaves behind her sister, Jeannie (Ron) Russell of Arlington, TN; two brothers, Rick (Teresa) Hawks of Tunica, MS, and Richard of Houston, MS; cousin John Guinozzo of Southaven, MS, sister-in-law Savanna McGee of Pope, MS, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or charity of choice.

A visitation for Janet will be held Friday, May 9, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Park.
