

Janette J King, 84, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 26 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. King was born on July 21, 1937 in Morton, MS to the late Jack and Clara Mae Hodges Jones. She was a longtime, faithful member of Van Winkle Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, was active with youth ministries and many other missions and activities. She later moved her membership to Twin Lakes Baptist Church where she helped to co-found the WMU (Women’s Missionary Union) and was very active in her Sunday school class. Mrs. King volunteered regularly with the Crestwood Center in the inner city Jackson area. She was a faithful supporter of the Seamen’s Ministry on the Gulf Coast.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jimmie King; children, Victor Louis King (Wendy), Karen King Findley (Holley), Gayla L. King, Bobby Kendale King (Edie) and Herbert M King; siblings, Bobby Jones (Nelda) and Willie Mae Clark (G.A.); grandchildren, Laine King, Landon King (Leslie), Brad Walters, Michael Aaron King (Allison), Brittney Cates (Brad), Paxton King, Robbie King (Julie), Ryan King, and Kaitlyn King, and 11 great grandchildren.
