Jeanette Stanley-Garrett, 83, long-time resident of Clinton, MS passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 and is currently in the loving care of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lesley Garrett, Sr.; her father, William White Stanley; and mother, Bertha Smith Stanley; her brothers John Kendrick, William Lucien, Clarence Ray, Dennis Graves; and sister Verna Mae.
She is survived by her two sons, James Lesley Garrett, Jr. and William Jackson Garrett, II; her daughter, Effie “Buffy” Loraine Garrett-McGowan (John McGowan), and three grandchildren.
Jeanette Garrett worked as a homemaker and co-owner of J. L. Garrett Grocery with her husband James Lesley Garrett, Sr. After the sale of their family grocery store, Jeanette worked as a sales associate for Belk Department Store. She was retired at the time of her death. She was a member of Springridge Pentecostal Church in Jackson, MS. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A pavilion service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Lakewood Memorial Park.
