

Demetrius (Jimmie) K. Angelo fell asleep in the Lord on April 10, 2011. He was born July 5, 1923 to Konstantine and Angeliki Angelo in Jackson, MS. Jimmie is survived by his wife of 61 years Lambryne Stavropoulos Angelo; son, Konstantine (Gus) D. Angelo (Tina) of Houston, TX; daughters Olga A.Deoudes (William) of North Potomac, MD and Angela Maria Angelo of Jackson; grandchildren John W. Deoudes, Dimitri W. Deoudes of North Potomac, MD, Alexis K, Angelo and Jimmy K. Angelo of Houston, TX; his sister Fotina A. Pavlou (Spiros) of Kenner, LA; cousins,May L. Peters of Johnstown, PA and Anthony Katsaboulas of Brandon, MS; and many nieces, nephews,and in-laws.
Jimmie was a graduate of Forest Hill High School. He saw action in the Pacific theater on Okinawa during WWII, serving with the United States Army Air Corps.
He was in business in the original Cherokee partnership, at Angelo’s on Highway 80 and later the owner of Angelo’s Wayside Inn on Terry Road. After 44 years at that location he retired in 1997.
He was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Vicksburg, MS, serving on the church council and was a member of the Order of Saint Ignasius. Jimmie was also a founding member of the Holy Trinity Saint John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church in Jackson where he served on the parish council and as president. He was a member of the National Restaurant Association serving as president at the state and local levels and selected Restaurateur of the Year. He was a charter member of the Golden Gloves and a life-time member of the Order of AHEPA, V.F.W. and the American Legion.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Angeliki (Koula) Angelo and his loving parents Konstantine and Angeliki Angelo and sister Anastasia Costakis.
Pallbearers will be Panayot Catsulis, Michael Cora, Rick Hardy, Michael Lekas, Larry Pavlou, Dennis Petimezas, Mark Stavropoulos, and Nicholas Zouboukos.
The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses at the V.A., and Southern Care for their support and comfort provided especially by Roberta Noel, Kris Sutton, and Jackie Stamps.
Visitation is at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street in Jackson on Tuesday April 12, 2011 at 5:00pm. Trisagion will follow at 7:30pm. The funeral service is on Wednesday April 13, 2011 at 11:00am at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church at 414 E. College Street in Clinton, MS.
