He was born to parents John Dale and Lola Emmaline Ware on Aug. 25, 1951, in Laurel Mississippi. John graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1969 and enrolled at Mississippi State University that same year. From 1969 to 1972, he studied in the pre-pharmacy program at MSU and then went on to the University of Mississippi to graduate with a B.S., Pharmacy in 1975. While at Ole Miss, John was an active member of Kappa Psi, the nation’s oldest pharmaceutical fraternity.
Immediately after graduation, John began his service to his country as a uniformed officer in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. He served military service members for 28 years as a pharmacist and health care administrator. During this time, he continued his education at the University of Oklahoma and earned a Master of Public Health in Health Care Administration so that he could help to provide an even higher quality of care. In 2004, he was honorably discharged from active duty and continued his career as a pharmacist in private hospitals until he retired in 2015.
On May 28, 2005, John married his best friend, Sherry, who survives him. He is also survived by stepdaughters Kristen Weier, Allison Harrell, Bethany George, Christi Whitmire; stepson Michael Sisk; mother Lola Emmaline Ware; brother James R. Ware; and many grandchildren and friends. John was preceded in death by his father, John Dale Ware Sr.
Visitation will be held at the Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, MS on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will be immediately followed by a memorial service to celebrate John’s life that will begin at 12 p.m. Burial service will be presented by Rev. Sid Johnson at the Beezer Cemetery in Raleigh, MS at 3 p.m.
