

Lynn Conway ”Chip” Slack, Jr. passed away on Monday, May 28, at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 2, at 10:00 at First Baptist Church Jackson, MS. Visitation with the family will be Friday, June 1, 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the West Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church Jackson. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 5, at 2:00 at Harpeth Hills Cemetery in Nashville, TN.
Chip was born a firecracker in Nashville, TN, July 4, 1961, to Ruth and Conway Slack. He attended Goodpasture Christian School before continuing his education at Vanderbilt University. In 1992, he married his love, Amanda Oldham. They moved to Jackson, MS, in 1998.
Chip was a hard-working man who guided his life by Christian principles. He was a loving father, husband, son, and brother.
Chip’s sons, Noah and Joseph, were the light of his life. Quiet times and teachable moments were held in a deer stand or pitching baseball. He spent his time enjoying nature, cheering on Noah’s every pitch, and coaching Joseph’s team each game.
He is preceded in death by infant son, Caleb, and father Conway Slack. He is survived by wife Amanda Oldham Slack, sons Noah and Joseph Slack, mother Ruth Lamberth Slack, and sister Sylvia Slack.
Pallbearers will be Walter Boone, Jay Cole, Stacy Davidson, Jim Fuller, Jimmy Grant, Blake Headley, Jimmy Jon Josey, E. B. Martin, Jimmy Moore, Billy Mounger, Brad Oldham, and Chris Snopek.
In lieu of flowers an educational fund for Noah and Joseph has been established at BancorpSouth.
