Anyone who knew Helen would say she was soft spoken and immensely caring. She leaves a legacy of generosity, gentle compassion, and unwavering faith in the Lord. She was a member of Alta Woods Baptist Church in Jackson, Ms for over forty years. She then became a member of Florence Baptist Church, and most recently attended services at Sunny Brook Retirement Home.
When Helen moved to Jackson, Ms, she worked at a soda fountain downtown. She was also an operator at South Central Bell. She met her husband, Tom, at the soda fountain and later found out they were both residing at the same boarding house. They later married and she became a stay at home mother to her three beloved children Mark, Sandra, and Lisa.
Helen found joy in life’s simple pleasures and cherished time spent planting flowers, traveling with loved ones, sewing, and cooking her signature cornbread dressing, homemade soups, and so many other recipes that have been passed down and will continue to be prepared in her memory. She also enjoyed relaxing with her favorite television programs, often watching Fox News and Steve Harvey. Her home reflected her loving spirit, beautifully decorated for each season in ways her family will always treasure, and she took great joy in dogsitting her beloved furry granddogs.
Helen's warm spirit and caring nature touched the lives of so many, and she will be deeply missed by all.
The family would like to express gratitude to Mrs.Gilda Crawford and Covenant Caregivers who surrounded her with comfort and compassionate care at the end of her life.
