Margaret King McMullin

Margaret Edith (King) McMullin, former owner of The Book Rack, passed away peacefully at her home on March 26, 2013. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 11:00 – 1:00 at St. James Episcopal Church with services to follow at 1:00. Reverend Shannon Manning will officiate. Burial will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park on Clinton Blvd. immediately following. Wright and Ferguson is handling the arrangements.

Margaret was born in Fulham, England on February 8, 1928 to Frank & Daisy May King. During World War II she met Joe McMullin and after a 2 year, long distance romance she came to Greenwood, MS where they were married. They eventually moved to Jackson and were blessed with five children; Janis, Mark, Craig, Scott, and Julie. She was very active in many organizations including Little Theater, Youth Court, reading for the blind, and PTA. In 1972 the Capitol City Club presented her a Service to Mankind award for her work with juveniles. In 1993, Margaret became the owner of The Book Rack in Canton Mart Square, and her customers were truly a delightful part of her life. She loved many things, but her faith and love in Jesus Christ and love of her family were the greatest.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers, Lou & Ted; also her children Craig, Janis, and Julie McMullin and her grandchildren Tracy and Mary Margaret McMullin.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Mark & Sarah McMullin of Brandon and Scott & Theresa McMullin of Jackson; grandchildren, Scott & Jason McMullin, Lauren Laird (Thomas), Matthew McMullin (Erin), Garrett, Gordon, and Kathleen McMullin; great grandchildren Tyler & Tayloe McMullin and Tracy McMullin; her sister-in-law, Pat King of Fulham, England and sister-in-law Johnnie McMullin of Vicksburg as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
