Marie Matthews

Marie was a native of Magee, MS, and a longtime resident of Jackson, MS. She was retired from Armstrong World Industries and Mississippi Mental Health, Children’s Division. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Jackson and did volunteer work for the church after retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents Willie H. Matthews and Alice T. Matthews and two brothers: Atty. Willis T. Matthews of Magee, and Rev. Wilburn Matthews of Starkville. She is survived by one sister-in-law Donnis B. Matthews of Starkville, one sister Mary M. Rider and husband, John C. Rider of Bethany, OK, and one brother Walter W. Matthews and wife, Lois W. Matthews of Huntsville, AL and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4-6:00 pm Sunday January 13, 2013 at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street in Jackson, MS and from 10:00-11:00 am Monday January 14, 2013. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at 11:00 am following the morning visitation.

Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery at Magee, MS at 2:00 P.M.
