Marie T. Price, age 92, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was born on December 3, 1932, in Randolph, Mississippi, to her parents, Barles Tedford and Lovie Atkins Tedford.
Marie, one of nine siblings, graduated from Randolph High School and later retired from Standard Oil Company at the age of 70. She was a woman of remarkable strength and independence, always moving forward with purpose and determination. A natural storyteller with a quick wit, she delighted in making others laugh and filling every room with warmth and joy.
Later in life, she married Rueben (Pete) Price. The two shared 12 loving years together before his passing. They especially cherished traveling together and making lasting memories along the way.
Marie had a deep love for art and creativity, inspired by artist Peggy Myrick Knight of Laurel, Mississippi. She loved drawing and painting and especially enjoyed attending flea markets where she proudly displayed her artwork. Marie also found great joy in listening to her favorite country music. She attended Morrison Heights in Clinton, Mississippi, where she enjoyed fellowship and worship.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Dot Horton, Lester Tedford, and Dell Raines, all of Pontotoc, Mississippi.
She is survived by her siblings: Charlotte Hudson, Ruby Simmons, Peggy Covington, Lynward Tedford, and Nancy Oliver of Tupelo, Mississippi; her daughter, Janet Knight of Tupelo; grandchildren Rick Wells (Meagan) of Jackson, Mississippi, and Sally Wells Black (Wayne) of Madison, Mississippi; and great-grandchildren Kailee Wells, Ely Reed and Miller Black, Will and Molly Heslep, who all affectionately knew her as “Grandmommy.”
Marie will be remembered for her quiet strength, creativity, love for family, and the gentle joy she found in simple pleasures—especially art, music, travel, and time spent with those she loved.
Visitation and burial services will be held on December 6, 2025, at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, Mississippi, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m., followed by the burial service at 12:00 p.m
