

Marjorie "Margie" Clytee Holton Alford, born January 6, 1939, in Louisville, MS, passed away on April 26, 2022 at Brookdale Clinton. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, April 29 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with the funeral service to follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Daughter of Robert and Janie Holton of Winston County. She graduated from Nanih Waiya High School in 1957. Marjorie was married to the love of her life, Benjamin Travis Alford, Sr. They were married for 58 years and blessed with three sons, Chip, Kevin & Layne. They resided in South Jackson for 47 years and recently moved to Clinton.
Margie worked for MP&L and retired with Entergy as a Customer Service Representative. She was a long-time member of Van Winkle Methodist Church in Jackson, Mississippi. Margie enjoyed her retirement years working in her flower beds and being a Flea Market Vendor. Margie and Ben travelled many miles through Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama making many life-long friends during their Flea Market career. Margie's pride & joy were her grandchildren. She was the grandmother that would never tell her grands "No" and would let them do anything and eat anything they wanted at any time.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Janie Holton and her son, Patrick Layne Alford. She is survived by her husband, Ben Alford of Clinton, MS; sons, Chip Alford (Dianne) of Clinton, MS, Kevin Alford (Mary) of Brandon, MS; grandchildren, Julie Alford (Stuart-fiance) of Long Beach, MS, Matthew Alford (Morgan) of Clinton, MS, John Patrick Alford (Maddie-fiance) of Brandon, MS, Jacob Alford of Brandon, MS, Chase Doresy (Mary Grace), Kyle Dorsey (Casey); great grandchildren, Finley Nichols, Kaylee Jo Dorsey, and Lane Dorsey, all of Madison, MS; sisters, Carolyn Hatcher of Louisville, MS, Marilyn Chisum of Texarkana, TX, Brenda Alford of Houston, TX; and brothers, David Holton of Louisville, MS and Harold Holton of Houston, TX. She is also survived by her beloved canine companion, Caidia.
