Marjorie Wade Smith Bishop Thornell, 85, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Throughout her lifetime, Mrs. Thornell was church pianist at Emanuel Baptist in Cleveland, MS, Morgantown Baptist Church in Natchez, MS, Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, MS, Westview Baptist Church in Jackson, MS and Wynndale Baptist Church in Terry, MS. She was a longtime member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and singing, but above all she loved her family.
Mrs. Thornell is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Bishop; son, Michael Bishop; daughter-in-law, Lisa Bishop; and brother, John Bryant Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Marshall Thornell of Clinton; sons, David H. Bishop (Rochelle) of Clinton and Steven Wade Bishop (Sarah) of Nashville; daughter, Cindy B. Pitts (Andrew) of Clinton; brothers, James Earl Smith and William Parks Smith; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
