Mary Elizabeth Alsworth

Mary E "Liz" Alsworth passed away on December 31, 2018 in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held on January 4, 2019 from 10 am to 11 am with a graveside service to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park with Rev. Greg Ducker officiating.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. W.B. and Josie (Wilkinson) Alsworth; brothers, Rev. Baylis Alsworth, Leslie Alsworth and Rev. Selby Alsworth; sisters, Lucile Ducker, Jo Phillips and Nancy Slaughter. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She graduated from USM, receiving a BS, MA and specialist degree. She was a career educator, teaching at Tylertown and Pearl River Junior College in Poplarville. At PRC, she taught History and Geography, was Wesley Foundation Sponsor and PHI THETA KAPPA Honors Society Sponsor. She was an active church member teaching Sunday school and serving as an UMW officer. Her family includes four generations who served and are serving United Methodist Churches in MS.
