Sister Mary Muriel Ludden

after a long battle with cancer.

Sister, born in Dublin Ireland, on May 17, 1937, to Lucy Helena Ludden and Patrick Joseph Ludden is survived by her sister, Joan O'Reilly and her brothers James, Paul and Michael Ludden, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sister Mary Muriel was predeceased by another brother, Right Reverend Monsignor E. Peter Ludden of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Georgia.

Sister earned a Bachelor’s degree in June of 1972 from Notre Dame University in Baltimore, MD and in 1980 a Master’s degree from Villanova University. She also earned a Graduate certificate In Carmelite Studies from the Washington Theological Union in June of 1993.

Sister Mary Muriel joined the Discalced Carmelite Nuns here in Jackson on January 14, 1993, after an extended period of studies and teaching in the United States. Sister Mary Muriel's last wish was to extend heartfelt thanks to her beloved Carmelite Community, family and friends whose love and prayers helped her immeasurably through her prolonged anddifficult illness. May she rest in peace !

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:00am Monday January 21, 2013 at the Chapel of the Carmelite Monastery. Visitation will begin at 11:00am on Saturday January 19, 2013 at the Monastery. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Gluckstadt.
