Visitation will be held at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home, Clinton Blvd., Friday, December 28 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 29 beginning at 1 p.m. with the service to follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mallye Truesdel Langley of VanWinkle, MS.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years (the love of her life), Willie Ray Smith; two daughters Debbie Wheeler (Tim) and Tracy Reid (Chuck); one son, Ted L. Smith (Tammy); grandmother of 12; great-grandmother of 16; and great-great-grandmother of four. She also leaves brother, Lt. Col. Edward T. Langley (USMC Ret.) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Cathy was a graduate of Forest Hill High School and had attended Mississippi State College for Women and Belhaven College. She was currently a member of Pearl Presbyterian Church and former member of Alta Woods, St. Paul, and Central Presbyterian Churches where she served as a member of the WIC and Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Smith was a volunteer at Hinds General Hospital (Merit Health Central) for 18 years.
She was the best wife in town and the best mother in the world. She loved her family and enjoyed taking care of them. She enjoyed swimming with her grandchildren and taught many of them how to swim. Some other favorite pastimes were reading, traveling, and visiting with friends.
