Mary "Sue" Ward

Sue Ward went home to be with the Lord on August 5, 2016. She was 85. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Sue was born in Neshoba County, MS to the late Barney and Estelle Dennis. Preceding her in death are her parents and six siblings, Clayton Dennis, Jean Crimm, Pete Dennis, Thomas Dennis, Bennie Dennis, Wayne Dennis and one great-grandchild Cameron White.

She is survived by siblings E.J. Dennis, Maureen Kemp, and Rachel Posey. Along with her three sons, Tim (Brenda) Ward, Gary (Sharon) Ward and Mark Ward. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Erin (Mike) White, Jeremy (Claire) Ward, David (Anslee) Ward, Darrell (Andrea) Ward, Maghen (Mark) Lee, Heather Ward, Brady Ward, Amber Ward and seven great-grandchildren, Swayze Lee, John Preston Ward, Alli Ward, Tyler Ward, Hayden Ward, Sawyer Lee and Noah Ward.

Sue’s love for cooking led her into the food service industry. She was the lunchroom manager at Lake Elementary School and owner of “Miss Sue’s” in Terry, MS. She served as Central Presbyterian Church Hostess and Stewpot Ministries Coordinator. She was a long time member of West Jackson Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and Church Librarian.

Sue’s gift of service brought joy to many people throughout her life. She had a love for people and a servant’s heart.

In lieu of flowers, Sue requested donations to the Metro Jackson American Heart Association in memory of Lee John Ward and Mary Sue Dennis Ward.
