
She went to be with the Lord on Feb. 1, 2014 where she is now enjoying a wonderful family reunion along with our Lord in heaven. Born on March 11, 1927 to George and Edith Dunkle in New Orleans, LA. ,she met her adoring husband William (Bill|) McFarland at Louisiana College and they were married November 24, 1948. Minnie graduated from Louisiana College with a nursing degree and spent the majority of her career as a nurse educator at University Medical Center in Jackson, MS.
She and her husband Bill spent many exciting years camping, traveling and visiting friends and family. In their later years they enjoyed more calm vacations, taking cruises, and listening to the stories told by grandchildren who visited from many states.
Minnie is preceded in death by 2 sisters and her husband Bill.
She is survived by her sons William (Barbara), Bruce (Carol), Cam (Becky) and daughter Beth Hunter (Mike). She leaves10 grandchildren : Katie Davenport and Jennifer Longstreet; David and Rachel McFarland; Josh, Matt and Chris McFarland and ; Taylor, Ashleigh and Alex Gray; and 8 great-grandchildren to honor her memory.
Her family thanks the fine staff and residents of Sunnybrook Retirement Center, the caring and loving staff of Senior Home Care Assisted Living, the professional team of Stahome Health, and the loving hands involved in her short stay at Nichol's Center and Hospice Ministries.
Visitation will be at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, MS on Friday February 7 from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday February 8 at 10 a.m. with Funeral Services to follow at 11. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Ministries.
