

Peter Russell 73, died July 17, 2010, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS after a courageous 19 month fight with Mesothelioma. Mr. Russell was preceeded in death by his father, Reginald Carl Russell, his mother Lessye B. Gilliland Russell and his sister Bobbie Russell Thames.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Faye A. Russell of Clinton, his son Randy Russell and wife Janice Russell of Clinton, his daughter Angela F. de Rodriguez of Madison, grandson Reggie Russell and wife Jennifer of Brandon, grandson Corey Russell of Clinton, and grandson Ruben Alexander Rodriguez of Madison. One great-granddaughter, Rivers Russell of Brandon.
He was a long-time member of Pocahontas Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon then later made a trustee of the church, Sunday School teacher, and served on various other church committees.
Mr. Russell was a graduate of Clinton High School and Hinds Community College. He served as President of the Board of North Hinds Water Association for 22 years. He had retired as a Master Sergeant from the Mississippi Air National Guard after 23 years of service. He had also retired from his career as sheet metal worker from Local 406 at Delphi in Clinton.
He was a devoted, loving and patient husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A devout Christian who loved the Lord and looked to Him for strength, courage and support during his entire life, but especially during his illness. He loved fishing, camping and riding all of his grandchildren on his father's tractor.
Pallbearers will be long-time friends and church members, Walter Miller, Walter Jordon, George Whitfield, Derrick Milner, Doug Barker, Travis Harrell, David Dockery and Andy Van Landingham.
He will be greatly missed by many and loved by all.
Visitation will be 5-8pm today and 10am Tuesday July 20, 2010 at Pocahontas Baptist Church, 4200 Kickapoo Road, Jackson, MS . The funeral service will be at Pocahontas Baptist Church at 11:00am on Tuesday. Interment will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park immediately following the service.
