

Phyllis Mary Roberts Day, a cherished member of the community, passed away on March 28, 2023, at the age of 98, after a brief illness in Brandon, Mississippi. She was born on December 28, 1924, in Rhydfelan, Wales, UK, to Emily Robbins Roberts and David Roberts. Phyllis came to the United States in 1945, joining the wave of over 750,000 War Brides from Europe after World War II.
She is survived by her five children, David R. Day of Brandon, Sherry Day Giacone of Biloxi, Adrienne C. Day of Oklahoma, Kevin M. Day of Jackson, and Heather Day Gonzales of Texas. Additionally, Phyllis’s memory will be cherished by her three grandchildren, Shannon B. Day, Courtney Day McAdams, and Meridith Day Davis, and three great-grandchildren.
Phyllis devoted over 25 years of her life to the Jackson Public Schools Administrative offices, working with dedication and purpose. She retired officially in 1996 but continued to work part-time well into her 70s.
Phyllis had a contagious smile, and her kindness touched the hearts of many. She lived a full life, treasuring her family, friends, and her community.
