

Rita Myers House passed away into the arms of Jesus on September 6, 2017. Rita was born on November 5, 1933 to Hollis and Alva Myers. She was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Brandon, 309 S. College St., Brandon 39042. She was also a member of John Ashley’s Sunday School and Ladies Explorer’s Bible Study at First Baptist for many years.
Rita retired from South Central Bell/AT&T after 30 years of service. She then worked at Upton/Neal Carpets for 5 years, but Rita was not through. Rita joined the family of Hinds Community College when she was offered the position of Switchboard Operator at the Rankin Campus in Pearl. She held the position for seven years, after which, she retired once again.
Rita is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John House, her parents, brother, Dewey C. Myers and sister, Marjorie Earlene Sutton.
Rita is survived by three daughters who loved her very much, Jean Williamson (Gary), Jane Easley (Carl) and Faye Bokros (Gary); grandchildren who called her MaRit, Tara Yount (Chris), Kevin Williamson, Cal Easley (Lea), Maegan Speights (Stephen), Molly Easley, Terri Hollis (Scott), Traci Grubb (Dustin), Jay Bokros (Kelly), Kesha Butzin (Clint); great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Meredith Hollis, Blythe Grubb, Sara Thomas, Turner and Lila Easley, Cayson and Ryker Bokros, Erin, Triston and Ryan Butzin. Rita is also survived by her sister Frances Severance (Dink) and many nieces and nephews who called her Aunt Rita, but she was MaRit to all of us.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Monday, September 11, 2017 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at First Baptist Church, College Street, Brandon, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am. A private graveside service for the family will follow. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Yount, Cal Easley, Stephen Speights, Scott Hollis, Dustin Grubb and Jay Bokros.
There are so many people who came into our lives during this journey with our Mama, MaRit, Aunt Rita, Rita that we don’t want to miss anyone. Just know that we thank God for the Angels that he placed in our paths. We thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS or Building Fund First Baptist Church Brandon.
