

W. W. Hubbard (Sonny) passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 at his home in Raymond, Mississippi at the age of 86. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond. Visitation will be between the hours of 5 and 7 pm Tuesday and after 10:00 am Wednesday. Interment will follow the service in the Utica Cemetery.
Mr. Hubbard was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Price Hubbard, his sons, Bill Hubbard, Powell Hubbard and his daughter Mary Lynn Alexander.
Mr. Hubbard is survived by his daughter, Pollyanna Lewis, his sister Sarah Caroline Hubbard, his grandchildren Angela Haughton, Ron Crawford, Austin Lewis, Bridget Rhodes and Sarah Kate Alexander along with two great grandchildren Mason Bounds and Mackenzie Crawford.
Mr. Hubbard was born November 15, 1927 in Crystal Springs, Mississippi. He grew up and attended school in Crystal Springs, then graduated college from Mississippi State University. He served two years in the U. S. Army before marrying Betty Price. He owned and operated the Jitney Jungle in Utica until 1973. In 1973 he closed the grocery business and went to work for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers where he retired. Upon retiring he and Betty moved to Florence, Mississippi before moving to Riggs Manor Retirement Home in Raymond. He had many friends and was known to all as “Sonny”. He loved fishing, yard work and visiting his friends and family.
Mr. Hubbard was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Mississippi. He loved his church and had a strong faith in God. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
