William "Bill" Augustus Weathersby Jr.

William Augustus “Bill” Weathersby, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home on March 28, 2026, at the age of 83 after battling cancer. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held for the family at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Bill graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1961. After high school he went to work for Delta Airlines where he spent his entire career of 32 years. He was proud of his work and the career he built there, and he valued the friendships and relationships he made over the years.

He was an avid woodworker who loved to work with his hands. He was always building and fixing things for his family and others. He was also a devoted Ole Miss football fan and enjoyed spending his Saturdays watching the Rebels play.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Augustus Weathersby, Sr and Wildria Clyde Weathersby, and his wife, Rebecca “Becky” Moak Weathersby. He is survived by his sister, Lynn Spencer; daughter, Allison James (Brad); son, Brett Weathersby (Jana); his grandchildren, Morgan James Nutt, Bradlea James Rice, Will Weathersby, Elle Weathersby, and Wright Weathersby; and his great-grandchildren, Samuel and Ellis Nutt.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and hospice caregivers who provided care and compassion during his final days.
