Ann, as she was known by her family and friends, was born in Jackson, Tennessee on October 23 of 1938 to Irma and Elmo Brinkley, who proceeded her and death. Ann graduated from JB Young high school in 1956 and attended Bemis Pentecostal Church in Jackson, Tennessee throughout her teenage and young adult years. Ann Luther accepted her call to ministry at a very young age. As a teenager she was filling pulpits and speaking at Churches across the state of Tennessee. During this time, she met her husband, Bill Luther, and they were married in April of 1966. Once married, her and Pastor Luther accepted a joint call to ministry on January 26th, 1969. It was during this time that they served as ministers at Bemis Pentecostal Church in Jackson, TN. They also went on to Pastor at First United Pentecostal Church in Hohenwald, TN, Bethel United Pentecostal Church in Memphis, TN and returned as Senior Pastors to Bemis Pentecostal Church in Jackson, TN. In 1996 they joined Love and truth church in Adamsville, TN as associate pastors and would later move to pastor at Love and Truth Church in Henderson, Tn before coming back to join the ministry team at Love and Truth Church in Jackson, Tn.
While being a pastor’s wife is most definitely a full-time job, Ann also worked for the Human Welfare Department, The Health and Sanitation Department, and the Madison County Juvenile Court System in Jackson, TN.
Ann and her husband also spent 20 years leading the Tennessee District United Pentecostal Junior Camp and in later years became the founders of BlueStrong, a program that helps support and appreciate our local law-enforcement officers in Jackson, TN.
To list all of her accomplishments throughout her life would take a novel, she was everything from a published author, a speaker in churches all over the country, to a local TV personality, where she continued her ministry by teaching children about Jesus through a show called “Calling All Kids” in Adamsville, Tennessee.
Ann Luther devoted her life to bringing men, women, and children all over the nation to know Jesus. Whether she was speaking from a pulpit or supporting her husband while he preached from one, she made herself into the epitome of a true servant of God. There is no doubt in our minds that when she walked through those pearly gates on Monday that God looked at her and said, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
And while many hearts broke at the news of her passing, her love and her legacy will live long after in the hearts of everyone that she encountered through her life’s ministry.
Ann Luther was an incredible wife, an amazing mother, and the most loving grandmother anyone could ask for. When she wasn’t the rock that we all leaned on, she was the voice of reason in chaos. She was the crooked smile to brighten our day, she was the musical laugh that rang in our ears, she was the wisdom we relied on and, to be honest, she was one of the greatest women of our time.
Ann Luther’s wisdom and works will continue to guide and strengthen us through this time of grief and into a time of acceptance.
Her family would like to thank everyone for all of their kind words and prayers during this time and ask that you not only remember the legacy she left behind but also live by it.
