Billy Ted Hammett

Funeral services for Billy Ted Hammett age 71 of Bartlett, TN will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, June 3, 2011 at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel Jackson, TN with Dr. Bob Agee officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery. Ted left out the front door of his earthly home and entered the front door of his heavenly home on Monday, May 30, 2011.

He was born on June 20, 1939 in Jackson, TN to the late Early Clyde and Annie Lee Hammett. He married Patricia Ann McKenzie on April 2, 1960. They renewed their vows on March 20, 1998. Ted was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church of Memphis, TN where he served as Deacon. He retired from Boston Brace of Massachusetts as General Manager. Ted was a kind hearted man, inspirational to those he met and loved his family dearly.

Ted is survived by his wife, Pat Hammett; two daughters, Cathy Escue and husband Greg of Bartlett, TN and Cynthia Everett of Eudora, MS; three grandchildren, Candice Everett, Rachel Escue and Justin Escue and great grand daughter, Camryn “Poppet” Milka.

In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Valerie Lynn Hammett, a sister and a brother.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2011 from 2 pm until service at 3 pm at the North Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
