

Carolyn was born on September 24, 1938 in Jackson, TN, to the late Harold Etheridge West and Yvonne Scott West. She grew up in Bemis and graduated from Jackson High School in 1956 as Essayist. During her time in high school she was also a TKO Sweetheart and on Homecoming Court. In the coming years Carolyn obtained a BA in History from Agnes Scott College, an MS in Counseling from Georgia State University and an EdD from the University of Memphis.
She was a licensed psychologist, a Marriage and Family Therapist and a certified Substance Abuse Specialist. She also spent many hours in training to be a Jungian analyst. During her career she served as Program Director for the substance abuse units at Jackson Specialty Hospital and then at the Rediscovery Unit at Regional Hospital. Carolyn went on to open a private practice in Jackson where she continued to make a significant impact on many lives. Dr. West-Willette served on numerous boards and was very active in the recovery community including both Aspell Manor and JACOA. Her true passion was helping those who were battling substance abuse and addiction and she helped countless people who were struggling in life.
Dr. West-Willette is survived by her children Nora Scott Doggett (Andrew) of Memphis TN and Patrick Parker of Nashville; sister Cecile West-Settle (Frank) of Lexington VA and niece Cary Cecile Ward (Paul) of Durham NC, and her three grandchildren---the heartstrings of her life--- Catherine West Doggett, Andrew Stimson Doggett, and Joseph West Parker . To her niece and grandchildren, Carolyn was affectionately known as CACA. Carolyn was loved dearly by many whom she had known either professionally or personally.
A dramatic presence at home and at work, Carolyn will be missed.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on December 17, 2021 from 1-2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Jackson. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m.
