Jacqueline Adair Pierce Hathorn, 87, of Jackson, TN, passed peacefully on January 23, 2021, surrounded by her six children, John L. Hathorn, Jr, (Vicky), Wiley B. "Jody" Hathorn (Jennifer), Jennifer Hathorn Petty, James P. Hathorn, Jill Hathorn Joyce (Mickey), and Jessica Hathorn Wyatt (David).
She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, John L. Hathorn, Sr. (1930-2000).
She had 16 grandchildren , 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren on the way.
She retired from the City of Jackson Parks & Recreation Department, where she was in charge of the summer day-camp program and taught ceramics. She was a member of Northside United Methodist Church, and was an active band parent for her children and an avid cheerleader for her grandchildren in band, baseball, and football.
She was a second mother to most of the children in her neighborhood of Holiday Gardens and a second "Meemaw" to all of her grandchildren's friends. She loved to do arts and crafts, including ceramics, knitting, crocheting, and painting, to name a few.
Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and their friends, and had a quick wit and charmed everyone she met. She will be dearly missed and we were all so blessed to have her in our lives.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at a visitation to be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 from 4-6 pm at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 12 pm. The funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
