

Born on August 23, 1941, in Jackson, TN, Jane was the daughter of the late Jewel and Chloie Stubblefield Cox. Jane’s passion for art shaped her life and inspired many. A gifted painter, she dedicated her career to nurturing creativity in others. She taught art and developed innovative art programs within the Jackson-Madison County School System, leaving a lasting legacy for students and educators alike. Her talent extended beyond the canvas, as she was also a skilled interior designer who brought beauty and warmth to countless spaces.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Hestal Martin, Hazel Bailey, and Ralph Cox.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Steve Watlington, and her loving children: Michelle Archer (Hugh), Stephen Watlington (Melissa), Christy Lott (Mark), and Alf Watlington (Amanda). She was a proud grandmother to Ethan Archer, Sam Watlington, Eric Archer, Chloie Kimble (Justin), Wylie Watlington, Emma Lott, and Lily Watlington, and a cherished great-grandmother to Emerson Archer and Josie Kimble. Jane is also survived by her dear sister, Juanita Lee (Ed).
A service celebrating Jane’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Malesus United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in Malesus. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service.
Jane Cox Watlington’s legacy of love, creativity, and dedication to her family and community will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
