Lavinia Hall Smith

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 2 p.m., in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Burial will follow in Sandridge Cemetery near Lexington, TN.

She was born on January 15, 1929 in Decatur, AL to the late Earl and Frances Lovett Maitland. She is preceded in death by two husbands, Walter William Hall in 1973, and Sydney Harrison Smith in 1992. She was the Cafeteria Manager at Southside Junior High until her retirement in 1992. Her strong faith helped her survive many obstacles that she faced in her life. Her strength, character, and her faith in God is what will be remembered the most about her.

She is survived by two sons, Rick Hall (Kay) and Randy Hall (Carol), both of Medon, TN; a daughter, Mary Beth Wilson (Scott) of Medon, TN; four stepchildren, David Smith of Alaska, Don Smith (Marilyn) of Minnesota, Connie Robbins of Oregon, Cathy Courtney (Roger), also of Oregon; two sisters, Bobbie Mims (Derrell) and Nellie Gaia (Lawrence) of Jackson, TN; fourteen grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren; as well as many special nieces, nephews and cousins.

In additions to her two husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Howard Earl Hall; two sisters, Earline Hampson and Margie Scuderi; and a brother, Jerry Wayne Maitland.

Visitation with the family of Lavinia Smith will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013 from 5 - 8 p.m., in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.
