

A graveside memorial service for Martha McCrory Jaco will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Ridgecrest Cemetery, with Dr. Cecil Kirk officiating.Mrs. Jaco died Friday, July 11, 2014 at Maplewood Health Care Center.Born in Jackson, TN on April 15, 1920, she was the daughter of Charles Freeman McCrory and Virginia Siler McCrory. Martha grew up in Humboldt, TN and attended the Music Conservatory of Southwestern at Memphis. Because of her father's premature death, she returned to Humboldt to run the family business, City Drug Store. She met her husband of over 60 years on the golf course in Humboldt, and golf remained an integral part of their life and recreation throughout their marriage.After World War II, she joined her husband to found Jaco's Music in Jackson in 1946. Martha managed the store's music department and was a mother and homemaker. She was a founding member of the Jackson Symphony Association and the Jackson Symphony League. A member of First United Methodist Church she was a charter member of the Dick Nunn Sunday School class. A long time member of the Jackson Country Club, Martha was active in the Ladies Golf Association and the Tennessee Women's Golf Association.Loving known as "Mama Co", she delighted in hosting sleepovers at "Camp Jaco" for her grandchildren and supporting and encouraging them in their lives.Mrs. Jaco was preceded in death by her husband, Les and her brother, Dr. Charles McCrory.She is survived by her three children, Nancy Jaco Golden and her husband Sonny, Leslie Jaco, Jr. and his wife Pam, and Carolyn Jaco Epps and her husband Michael; nephews, Dr. Roderick C. Webb, Jr. (Diane), Dr. James McCrory (Curt), and a niece, Mary Plummer (Bob). Her grandchildren are Martha Golden Billions (Mark), Sarah Golden Roy (Adam), Mary Golden Dunlap (Blake), Emmell B Golden III (Amy), Benjamin M. Epps (Heather), Leslie Epps Laughlin (Sean), Mary Jaco Hopkins (Jim), and Margaret Jaco. She also had a relationship with her great niece, Lauren Webb-Switter (Anthony), and her great nephew, Jonathan Webb. She leaves eight great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren will serve as casketbearers.The family requests that memorials be directed to First United Methodist Church, Jackson, TN.They will receive friends graveside after the celebration service.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of George A.
