Mary Virginia Cox

Graveside service for Mrs. Cox will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Eastview Cemetery in Union City, TN with Dr. Cecil Kirk and Bro. Jerry Leggett officiating the service.

Mrs Cox was born on September 22, 1910 to the late C.W. Miles, Jr. and Floy Coble Miles. She graduated in 1928 from Union City High School, then went on to graduate from the University of Missouri in 1932. She was extremely active in her community where she was a proud member of Chi Omega sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution, Union City Duplicate Club, a Charter Member of the Review Club of Union City and a long time member of First Christian Church of Jackson.

In 1934, she married her husband, the late Bertram C. Cox. They were married for 46 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, whom was loved and cherished by her family.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Charles Cox M.D. and his wife Betsy Buckley; four grandsons, Brian Curtis (Gabrielle) Cox, John Buckley (Martha) Cox Sr., Christopher William (Courtney) Cox and Kevin Miles Cox Sr., husband to the late Kristen Cox; six great grandchildren, Kevin Miles Cox Jr., Charles William Cox II, Ava Marie Cox, John Buckley Cox Jr., William Madison Cox and Carter Buckley Cox.

Pallbearers to serve are Kevin Miles Cox Sr., Brian Curtis Cox, John Buckley Cox Sr., Christopher William Cox, James Thorpe and John Miles.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church of Jackson, or to the First United Methodist Church of Jackson.
