She attended Jackson High School then Stephens College and married Murray "Bud" Gilliam when he returned home at the end of WWII. They travelled extensively with the United States Air Force until settling down in Jackson in 1951 when Bud joined C.H. Little and Co. Tillie was an avid reader, golfer, and bridge player and continued to travel with her husband throughout their life together.
Tillie is preceded in death by her husband; her son, Murray Gilliam III; her granddaughter, Catherine Moss; and her brother, C.H. "Son" Little.
She is survived by her daughter, Carroll Moss; granddaughter, Lindsay Wilhite (Todd); grandson, Ramsey Moss; and two great grandchildren, Jack and Catherine Wilhite. Tillie also leaves behind a sister, Cynthia "Sunny" Steadman; a brother, Charles Little (Betty); and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and loved ones at a visitation to be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons.
The funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m. at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with The Rev. Gayle McCarty of St. Luke's Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, in thanksgiving for all the thoughts, prayers, and visits by her friends there or the Jackson Madison County Library.
The family would also like to thank all of Tillie's caregivers, especially Mary Cole and Mary Nelson.
