Ruby Ellen Ward

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Maple Springs Baptist Church in Mercer with Bro. Steve McKown officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Springs Cemetery.

Active casketbearers to serve will be William Ward, Ronnie Ward, Justin Ward, Darryl Carter, Bryan Carter, and Jeff Cornatzor.

Honorary casketbearers will be Tommy Lomax, Bobby Hamlett, and Jeff Thorson.

Mrs. Ward was born on November 24, 1921 in Chester County, TN to the late Jessie Lafayette and Nettie Jane Fesmire Sanders. Mrs.Ward was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years. She was also a member of the seniors group at Maple Springs. She married James Ward on May 16, 1942. They were married 43 years when he passed away in 1985.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ward; a son, Lloyd Ward, and a sister, Linnie Lott.

Mrs. Ward is survived by her children, Kenneth Ward (Rose) of New Madrid, MO, Roy Ward of Milan, TN, Emmett Ward of Jackson, TN, Linda Carter (T.C.) of Denmark, and Sandra Pafford of Jackson; a brother, James Sanders (Elvielee) of Montezuma; a sister, Mildred Lott (Robert) of Finger; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held on Monday evening, February 2, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home. A second visitation will begin on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. going until the time of the funeral at 1 p.m. at Maple Springs Baptist Church in Mercer.
