Troy was born June 15, 1937 in West Port of Carroll County, TN to the late Rufus Clay and Bessie Joyner Bridges. Troy was a graduate from J. B. Young High School in 1956, and played baseball and football. As a Daddy to Donna and Lisa, he was very involved in scouting, camping, fishing, and coaching for softball and Little League Baseball. Was still very active with classmates in arranging class reunions and enjoyed monthly meeting with that group. His love of music, especially, country music, has been a most important part of his life, playing first within the Bridges family and then with The Rainbow Ramblers. He continued to be deeply involved playing with local bands in family music clubs, retirement centers and churches. He was also involved in the planning of the Bemis Days Celebration that was held annually. Troy retired from Conalco/Ormet in 2001 after many years of employment. Because he was so loved by so many people and because of the sixty plus years that he entertained thousands, in 2015, he was nominated and accepted into the Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame. This was a tremendous honor for Troy and he was truly humbled by that honor.
Troy was preceded in death by his wife Faye Ruth Bridges. He was also preceded in death by two older sisters Marion Grisham and Jean Cisco and younger brother, Bennie Bridges. He is survived by baby sister, Brenda Bridges Hudiburg (James).
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Bridges Carlisle of Jackson and Donna Bridges Wilson (Charles) of Florida. He is survived by beloved grandchildren, Alex Carlisle and Lorrie Carlisle Rivera (Baruth) and two beautiful great grandchildren, Rachel Peyton Rivera and Cristian Cade Rivera.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, August 30, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel.
Troy will be truly missed by nieces, nephews and cousins, and the many friends that he was so very close to will feel a great void by his passing.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon, August 31, 2016 at 2 p.m. at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel with Kenny Vernon officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
