Wil went to be with the Lord on March 19th, at the Med in Memphis, after a tragic accident. He was surrounded by family and loved ones at the time of his death.
Wil was a loving son, husband, father, PawPaw and friend to many. His sweet smile and contagious laughter will be deeply missed. He had a huge, warm heart of gold and a dynamic outgoing, personality that filled every room he entered. He had a strong faith in the Lord and overcame many personally obstacles during his short life here on earth.
Wil was born on March 5th in 1971 to Shelia Turner and William Dickerson Cummings (Dicky) and raised in the Jackson area. He attended local schools and was a member of West Jackson Baptist Church. His first job was as a pipefitter with S. M. Lawrence Company where he developed many skills as a young adult. He later became a licensed plumber and also gained a certification as a welder. He was co-owner of Cummings Rare Coins of Jackson, Tennessee and became very knowledgeable in the coin trade and gold and silver exchanges. He was a great carpenter and loved the feel of working with his hands. He had a passion for drag cars and loved spending many hours in his shop working on his car, a ’69 Chevy Nova that he named “Thunderstruck.”
He was preceded in death by his son, William Dickerson Cummings, III (Trey), his paternal grandparents, Hal and Frances Cummings, and his father-in-law, Roy Anthony.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Anthony Cummings; a daughter, Brooke Cummings Thweatt; parents, Shelia and Dicky Cummings; a brother, Tom Cummings; a step-daughter, Anna Pruitt Powers; grandparents, Jimmy and Louise Turner; four beautiful, loving grandchildren, Briley Grace Crowder, Khonley Ann Thweatt, William Wesley Powers, and Lila Pearl Powers; and by his mother-in-law, Raynelle Anthony.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Youthtown of Tennessee, Inc. in Pinson, Tennessee in Loving Memory of Trey and Wil Cummings.
