

He was born in Pontotoc, MS to the late Clarence and Mamie Garner. Willie graduated from high school in 1948. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Navy as an Engineman Class A. He was a heavy equipment diesel mechanic all of his life. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, reading westerns, watching baseball and football, “piddling” around outside, spending time with family, and cooking his own “concoctions.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Glenn Gene Garner and David Aaron Garner;two sisters, Wilma Jean Tutor and Addlene Tutor, and a great grandson Isaac Christy.
He is survived by his children, Dean Garner (Joan), Carol Emison (Jeff), Cathy Ferguson (Tommy); Daughter- in- law Deborah Garner, grandchildren, Matt Emison (Callie), Katie Garvey, Kristen Christy (Brian), Kara Enache (Boo), Emily Nyabam (Hani), Dustin Garner (Karisa), Will Garner, Andrew Garner, Knox Ferguson, Ethan Ferguson; great grandchildren, Jenna Davine, Jack Emison, Roman Enache, Stella Emison, John Christy, James Nyabam, Ruby Christy, Garner Enache, Gracie Nyabam; sister, Fannie Dowdy; and close friends, Bobby Ross, Dawn Bowen, Tom Byrd, Susan Fucci, and Don Kirk.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons South Chapel. Visitation will resume on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 9-11 a.m.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Highland Memorial Gardens
