Alford W. "Al" Knight

KNIGHT—Mr. Alfred W. “Al” Knight, 83, of Jacksonville passed away Friday, August 31, 2007. Mr. Knight, a native of Kingsland, GA had lived in Jacksonville for most of his life and was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Europe in World War II where he received the Purple Heart. Mr. Knight worked for many years at Sherwood Hardware where he was known as “Mr. Al”. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Audrey Knight, in July of 2006. Survivors include: his daughter, Joyce (Bill) Hall; his brother, Rev. Charles (Helen) Knight; 3 grandchildren, Michael Hall, Angela Lindsey, and Gina Ennis; and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Corey – Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. with Pastor Eliut Alicea officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made, in Mr. Knight’s memory, to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville 32257.
