Alfred "Big Al" Messier

MESSIER - Alfred “Big Al” Stephen Messier, age 72, of Jacksonville passed away on Friday, April 1, 2016. He is predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Oveda (Vogel) Messier. Al is survived by his wife Roberta K.; daughter, Cynthia (Thomas) Gray; son, Stephen Messier; grandsons, Justin Messier, Branden and Christopher Gray. He is also survived by his sister Joy Chipman and nephew Mark Chipman. His military career was as a crew chief on the B47 with SAC, USAF 1962-1966 at Lincoln AFB, Lincoln, Nebraska. Al worked part time with Jacksonville Environmental Control as a worker and fill-in supervisor. He retired from Civil Service, Naval Aviation Depot, NAS Jacksonville as an Aircraft Systems Inspector. He was a life-long member of Calf Branch Hunting Club. “Big Al” is surrounded and survived by loving family and numerous close friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 7, 2016, at the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. Jacksonville. Interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 6 from 6-8 PM.
