

Alice Elizabeth Veale was called home to God on March 23, 2013 at the age of 88. She was a beloved mother, wife, sister, and daughter to her family. Born in Roosevelt, NY on June 27, 1924 to John and Alice Daly, she was one of seven children and grew up in Long Island, NY and Douglas, GA. She was one of the Greatest Generation as a WWII war-time bride to Ernest A. Veale, Jr., loving and caring for him for more than 69 years of marriage. Together they raised seven children with 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Before settling in Jacksonville, they lived in Denville, NJ; Jupiter, FL; Charleston, SC; New Orleans, LA; Lakeland, FL; Vero Beach, FL; and Ocala, FL. Alice was a loving and caring wife to her husband, a wonderful mother to her children, and was an ideal example of a good, kind, and compassionate soul. She is mourned by a large family including her children Ernest, Nancy, Lori, Patrick, Paul, and her brother John Daly. She is preceded in passing by husband Ernest, sons John and David, siblings Lillian, Edward, Marion, Margaret, and Helen. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, March 29th at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin.
