

CWO4 Andrew Samuel Holland, Jr., USN, 88, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 in Jacksonville, FL. Born in Linnton, Oregon on November 26, 1921 to Gertrude Force Holland and Andrew Samuel Holland, Sr., Andrew was a graduate of Boys High School, Brooklyn, NY and the University of North Florida, Jacksonville, FL. He was honored to serve his country during a thirty-year career in the United States Navy, spanning WWII service in the Pacific to Vietnam. Andrew was a founding member and longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A talented artist, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UNF. His dearest role, however, was as loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, and the passing of this good man leaves a void in our hearts that can never be filled. Mr. Holland was predeceased by his beloved wife, Agnes, and son, Stephen. Survivors include his loving children, Susan Holland, Patricia Nale (Don), Valerie O’Neal (Dwayne), Thomas Holland, Mary Holland, and John Holland; and grandchildren Danielle O’Neal, William Edwards, Beth Holland, Cody Holland, and Sean Holland. In addition, he leaves cousins Dolores Winslow, William Force, Jr. and Barbara Hellen, whom he loved as siblings, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends for a visitation at 6:00 pm, Thursday, March 11, 2010, with a Rosary service at 7:00pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Friday, March 12, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5752 Blanding Blvd. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
