Anthony Victor Weight passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 30, 2017 in Jacksonville at age 76. Born in Sydney, Australia in 1941, Tony left his home as a young man to travel the world, eventually settling in Canada. There, he began a successful career at Uniroyal, which not only led him to the United States, but also introduced him to his wife. Tony eventually left Uniroyal to start his own company in Jacksonville, Florida with longtime business partner, Jerry Davis. A gifted athlete, Tony enjoyed tennis, rugby, cricket, yoga, fishing, table tennis, snow skiing, and triathlons. There wasn’t a sport he didn’t embrace and play with gusto (though he never did manage to master ice skating). Even after leaving Australia, he never lost his love for rugby. He assisted his friend Daryl “Spinner” Howland in establishing the Jacksonville Axemen Rugby League. Tony was also a connoisseur of fine wine and cigars, which he savored with his many close friends and family members. On this note, Tony never knew a stranger; he collected friends like some people do baseball cards. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy, and his children, Steven Huntley, Candice Baillie, Jennifer (Robert) Hall, and Jamie Weber. He will be forever missed by his loving grandchildren: Savannah, Tessa, Johnny, Brendan, Daniella, Leah, Maddox, Madison, and Preston. He will also be missed by brother, Phil (Julie) Weight; sister, Jenny Heslehurst; brothers-in-law, Phil (Doreen) Johnson and Brian Johnson; sister-in-law Margot Johnson (Chris), many nieces and nephews, and countless cherished friends. Memorial donations be made to the Osprey Club, benefiting the University of North Florida Athletics Department. Cheers, mate!
