

Arthur Grady Elliott, 92, longtime resident of Jacksonville passed away March 30, 2011. He was born on December 2, 1918 in Marion, NC. Arthur is a Pearl Harbor survivor who served in the US Navy aboard the USS West Virginia. Later he served on the USS Corregidor in the Pacific during the war. Following the war he was stationed in Salisbury, NC and worked as a Navy Recruiter where he met his wife to be who was working in the Army recruiting office.
Arthur was a member of Kernan Blvd. Baptist Church. During his retirement he enjoyed family and woodworking. He was a remarkable man and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Rosalie, four children, Wayne (Louise) Elliott, Arthur (Liz) Elliott Jr., Ron (Kathleen) Elliott and Darrin Elliott, seven grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren all of Jacksonville, a sister, Pauline Elliott Stroup of Newland, NC, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held this evening, Friday, April 1 from 6 – 8 pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 4115 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville, FL. The funeral will be Saturday, April 2 at 10:00 am in the chapel at the funeral home with Pastor Ronnie McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville.
