
Arthur John Henderson passed away at the age of 84, on August 15, 2012 at the VA Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. John was a United States veteran who served his country during the Korean War, first in the Merchant Marines from 1944-1950 and then in the Navy from 1950-1954. John was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Chelsea, Massachusetts. After he married his beloved wife, Frances, in 1959, they lived in Arlington and Malden, Massachusetts. John worked most of his life as a gas station attendant before being employed by and retiring from NEC in 1989 and moving to Jacksonville, Florida. During retirement, John worked at Publix, where he enjoyed meeting people everyday. John was an avid Boston sports fan, still following his Red Sox and Patriots after he moved to Florida. He liked to read and do crossword puzzles. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family. Besides his wife, Frances (Miller), John leaves behind two daughters, Elizabeth "Liz" Sellers and her husband, Rick, and Marie Mayo and her husband, Jose; two granddaughters, Nicole Langston and, Sara Langston and Chris Kidman, and three grandsons, Eric, Christopher, and Kevin Mayo; and one great-granddaughter, Addison Kidman.A Memorial Service will be held for John on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt St, Mansfield, MA. A reception will follow at the St. Mary's Rose Garden (www.stmarymans.org).
