Audrey was born on 6/29/22 in Passiac, NJ to Francis Wade (b. New York City) and Adelina Kühne (b. Philadelphia). A devout Catholic, she attended Mundelein Catholic Women’s College (Loyola University, Chicago). In 1943 she was united in marriage to Robert Walter Howard (b. Chicago) at Selman Army Air Corps Airfield, in Monroe, LA. The newlyweds enjoyed 6 months of married life while he received B-17 training before reporting to Deenethorpe, England in early 1944. They were of America’s greatest generation.
Audrey was a devoted mother to her two sons – Robert Wade Howard (deceased) and John Michael Howard. The family relocated from Chicago, Il to Clearwater, FL in 1957 and she and Robert remained Florida residents thereafter. Audrey was a gentle soul who loved all God’s creatures having many dearly loved cats throughout her life. Audrey had beautiful manners and always treated others with kindness and respect.
Audrey is predeceased by “Bob”, her husband of 70 years, and her son “Bob”. She is survived by her son’s widow, Linda Painter Howard, and grandchildren Robert Sean Howard (Laura), and Kristen Howard Resnick (Jeremy). She was blessed with four great-grandchildren: Claire Howard, Scott Howard, Calvin Resnick and Nova Resnick, all of Sacramento, CA. Audrey is survived by her son, John Michael Howard (Kim), and grandchildren Caroline Michelle Howard and William Wade Howard, all of Jacksonville, FL. She loved her family with all her heart.
Though Audrey lived a simple life, she knew she was greatly blessed. Hers was a life filled with integrity, honor, devotion and love. In lieu of flowers or memorial gifts, the family suggests you honor her life by expressing love to your family. Services will be private to family.
