

SUAREZ Augusto Ubaldo Suarez died Sunday, May 30, 2010, in Jacksonville, Florida, in the company of his wife Susana Sevilla Suarez and his daughter Maria Suarez Wilson of Tampa, along with his son-in-law Steven Wilson, and his grandchildren Daniel and Amy Wilson. They were joined the next day by his daughter Margarita Suarez of Brooklyn, New York. Augusto (Cesar) was born January 18, 1932, in Manila, Philippines, to Santiago S. Suarez and Salud Ubaldo. He was predeceased by his sister Marita and his brothers Simplicio, Antonio, and Salvador. He is survived by his sisters Carmen Garcia and Lourdes (Bienvenido) Sicat and numerous nieces and nephews. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in architecture from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. During his early career, he designed the seminary of the Blessed Sacrament Fathers in Quezon City. During the Vietnam War he joined an American architectural firm in Bangkok, Thailand, designing hospitals and airports. He immigrated with his family to the United States in 1968, moving a decade later from Rochester, New York, to Jacksonville. He held architectural board certifications in New York and Florida. His local designs include the Immaculate Conception Rectory, the Providence Center, the Villa Manila condominiums, and several private residences. Augusto, the son of a renowned Filipino composer, enjoyed listening to classical music and even dabbled in piano and accordion. His other interests included carpentry, chess, fishing, and gardening. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a loyal friend. A devout Catholic, he served as Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Augusto and Susana celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary in April 2010. Visitation will be on Friday, June 4 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Mandarin. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00pm, with rosary and wake service at 6:30pm. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, June 5 at 9:30am at St. Joseph's Historic Church with Father Daniel Cody as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the following organizations: Catholic Charities (catholiccharitiesusa.org) Pulmonary Fibrosis Association (pulmonaryfibrosis.org) National Psoriasis Foundation (psoriasis.org).
