Barbara Anne Shuford Hicks

Barbara Shuford Hicks, 85, of Keystone Heights, Florida passed away on April 8, 2024. Barbara was born in Rock Hill South Carolina. She moved to Jacksonville as a young child. She worked for Gulf Life Insurance Company in her younger years then left the work force to raise her daughters. She returned to work for the City of Jacksonville in Housing and Urban Development and then moved on to retire from Barnett Bank Trust Company after 15 years of service. Barbara moved from Jacksonville to the beloved lake house in Keystone Heights which Darby and her built together 40 years ago. The lake house became the family compound for every Christmas, Easter and any other reason to come together for many years.

Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years: Roland A. “Darby” Hicks, who passed on April 23, 2007. He retired from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office after 27 years of service and was a Journeyman electrician with the I.B.E.W. Local 177 in Jacksonville. Barbara is also preceded by her sister Joyce Sutton.

Mrs. Hicks is survived by her 2 devoted Daughters: Jo Anne (Deacon Dale) Tatum & Teresa Kaye (Mike) Dorman both of Jacksonville; 2 grandsons: David B. Riggins and Jason R. Rider (Nina), 3 great granddaughters (Dixie, Jasmin & Isabella) 2 great grandsons (Austin, Cameron); and sister Helen Gallman.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday., April 20th at 1 PM in the Corey-Kerlin Chapel with Deacon Chuck Patterson officiating. Reception and family visitation immediately following the service.
