Barbara Jean Rasey

RASEY, Barbara Jean Rasey, 75, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012. Mrs. Rasey was a native of Clarksburg, West Virginia, grew up in Marion, Ohio and graduated from Marion Catholic High School. She later became a founding member of the local Quaker Oats Credit Union and was secretary of the Local U.A.W. in Marion. She then moved to Jacksonville where she retired as an executive secretary for the Masonic Grand Lodge of Florida. Barbara was a five time cancer survivor and member of the Women Living with Cancer support group. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin J. Rasey; four sons, Russell Ward, Jeffrey Ward, Ralph Rasey and Richard Rasey; and two brothers, Jeff and Russell Shockey. Survivors include four daughters, Kathleen Wyskiver, Alicia Craig, Jacqueline Martyn-Dow and Janice Hodges; four sons, Henry Ward, Tucker Ward, David Rasey and Gary Burgart; one sister, Donna Postell; two brothers, John and Richard Shockey; 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, other loving family and dear friends. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue, with Rev. Kimberly Weir officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Heartland Hospice, 8130 Baymeadows Way West, #201, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
