

Betty (Medford) Collier, February 15, 1947 – October 8, 2011, born in Canton, North Carolina. She has resided in Jacksonville, Florida with her husband, Tom Collier for over 40 years. She is survived by her husband, Tom, three children: Michael, Laura and John, and their spouses: Joe and Janie, and seven grandchildren: Christina, Josh, Makenzie, Brittany, Kaelan, Grayson, and Austin, her sister Shirley and brother-in-law Bill, her niece Sheila, (her children, Ashley, Zachary and Jake) plus many cousins and many friends.
She was an accomplished hunter and loved being deep in the woods or going to the beach with her grandchildren.
“Miss Betty” as she was known by her buddies was a faithful and active member of University Baptist Church for over thirty years. She loved her church and was a shining example of strength and compassion, honor and love. She looked for others needs and she quietly filled them. Many lives have been blessed through her goodness.
“Miss Betty” battled metastasized breast cancer for 5 ½ years and she urged all to get their check ups on a regular basis.
Viewing will be held at University Baptist Church, 5520 University Boulevard West, Jacksonville, Florida 32216 (483-3560) on Friday October 14th, 2011 from 4 – 7 pm. The funeral service will be at University Baptist Church on Saturday October 15th, 2011 at 11:00 am. Pastor Frank Ceresi, Dr. Charles Davis, Dr. Jack Dinsbeer and Honorary Pastor Leon Myers will be officiating. Arrangements by Greenlawn Funeral Home.
