

RETHERFORD - Bob Retherford III was born in Jacksonville, FL on October 4, 1946 and died unexpectedly in Jacksonville, FL on September 16, 2018. He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree of Political Science from Jacksonville University.
After an early career in public relations, including Public Relations Director for Jacksonville’s new University Hospital, he joined Stockton Whatley Davin & Company specializing in commercial real estate. Bob rapidly earned the respect and trust of clients and peers. In the late 1970’s, he joined Property Services, Inc. as a Vice President and was later co-owner with Buddy Register, who he loved as a brother. The company was acquired by Cushman & Wakefield in 2008, where Bob was named a Senior Director.
His character and work ethic were exemplified in every aspect of his life. Highlights of his many professional accomplishments include, national designation as a Certified Property Manager; President of the Building Owners and Managers Association; President of the Certified Property Managers Association; and selection as Broker of the Year and Office Broker of the Year from the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks. He was active with the Jax Chamber and served on its Board of Governors.
Bob was a man of faith, love, family and country who will be missed by everyone he touched in life. He inherited from his father the love of gardening and especially planting and maintaining citrus trees. He was an avid Florida Gator fan and enjoyed boating on the St. Johns and all home improvement projects. Above all, Bob cherished being surrounded by family, in particular his grandchildren who were an unending source of pride and joy.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Bob Retherford II and T. Marie McCall (Thelma M. McEachin Retherford). He is survived by his wife, Nancy Clark Retherford; his children, Shawn Retherford (Cori); Tiffany Trivedi (Bobby); his grandchildren Nate, Lily and Andrew Retherford; and Ansley and Tristan Trivedi; his siblings, Emily Retherford Lisska (Lawrence) and Bill Retherford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed and forever loved by his wife of 39 years, Nancy; his children, family, friends, work associates and neighbors.
A memorial service will be held at 4pm Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Jacksonville Historical Society’s Old St. Andrews Church, 317 A. Philip Randolph Blvd. In lieu of flowers, a donation is suggested to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or your favorite charity.
