Bruce Connor, 81, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 20, 1945, in Pleasantville, New Jersey, Bruce lived a life defined by devotion—to his faith, his family, and his community.
A dedicated leader at Christ Episcopal Church, Bruce served as a Stephen Minister for 15 years, guided others through Walking the Mourner’s Path, and was a proud graduate of Education for Ministry (EFM). His commitment to service was matched by his professional dedication. After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Jacksonville University, he spent more than 30 years as Executive Vice President at Ja-Ru, Inc.
Bruce will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, radiant smile, and unwavering compassion. Whenever you asked how he was doing, he’d flash his smile and simply say, “Terrific.” He found joy in cooking, cheering on the Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars, and—above all—spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Cheryl Connor; his children, Clint (Raymond), Jeremy (Anastasia), and Amy (Daniel); his stepchildren, Erika (Ryan) and Lauren (Andy); and his eight cherished grandchildren—Demi, Harper, Josie, Ace, Madeline, Bodie, Elise, and Helen. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael (Angie) and Lynda (Russell), along with many nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Connor, Robert Ritchie, and Leatha Connor.
A memorial service will be held on April 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville FL.
Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery with a reception to follow the burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
