

Byron B. Fox, age 82, passed away on February 25, 2011 at his home in Jacksonville, FL. Byron was born on October 26, 1928 in San Diego, CA to the late Byron and Ruby Fox. He spent most of his childhood in Fairfax, AL. He moved to Miami in 1953, Jensen Beach in 1993, and settled in his Jacksonville home June 2010. He was a retired Firefighter for the City of Miami Beach Fire Department, worked for Eastern Airlines and was a member of the United States Marine Corp and the United States Coast Guard prior to that.
Byron was a pilot, an avid fisherman and boater and a woodworker. He loved nature and the outdoors. He was the biggest fan of each and every one of his athletic grandchildren and occasionally traveled far and wide to watch a game.
Byron’s wife of 58 years, Shirley Tingle Fox passed away on July 24, 2010. He leaves behind his brother John H. Fox of Rockledge, FL, his children; daughter Linda and her husband, Greg Turman of TX, daughter Lauren of FL, son Jon and his wife, Dawn of NC and daughter Lisa and her husband, Steve Alvarez of FL; 9 grandchildren, Kelly, Matthew, Kaitlin, Michael, Joel, Anthony, Jonathan, Clayton and Daniel; and great-grandchild, Syler.
A Memorial Service/Reception will be held at his Jacksonville home on Sunday, March 6, 2011 with interment to follow at the National Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 7, 2011 with full military honors.
